Teresa : A Story about Hope

Teresa is a riveting and motivational documentary, filmed entirely in Ontario.
The film offers very powerful and central lessons about the meaning of life and how to achieve happiness despite adversity. Teresa is a film about an Italian woman who as a young girl has typical childhood dreams of a career, getting married, having children, etc. Born into the beautiful surroundings of a wonder of the world, Niagara Falls, her life starts out without incident and by all accounts was normal.Barely into her adolescent years, Teresa is introduced to a very complex medical system that struggles to understand, diagnose and treat her condition.
.

As she experiences one medical tragedy after another,
her family is left feeling helpless. Unbeknownst to Teresa and her family, the headaches that she starts to experience in her teenage years would soon spiral out of control, leading to a brain tumour diagnosis, emergency surgery, her skull being removed in order to operate, and a loss of some of her vital senses.
Meanwhile, Teresa’s youthfulness transforms into an adult existence that makes it clear that the chance of achieving her initial life dreams are altered. Yet, as the story unfolds, Teresa displays stunning, amazing courage and resilience; she digs deep within herself and draws up on art to express her own creativity and life statements. With time Teresa loses her sight and instead of becoming withdrawn and adopting a life-long victim mentality, she is transformed into this wonderful and peaceful soul, who is content in the midst of stormy adversity. Teresa is a story of how unleashed Hope helps to answer life’s most important question: “What is most important in life?”. In the end, Teresa blames no one for her condition.
She is at peace with herself and life. Though the tough questions raised in hers and other minds over the years about the quality of the treatment she received are never answered, those answers do not matter because Teresa is at peace with herself, her life and how it has impacted her family.
